Founded in 1976 by Flat-Coated Retriever fanciers in Connecticut and Massachusetts, the NEFCRC was the first regional Flat-Coated Retriever club in the United States. Originally called the New England Flat-Coated Retriever Club, the name was changed to the Northeast Flat-Coated Retriever Club when Flat-Coat owners from New York joined. Today the club includes members from all over the northeast including New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania; as well as Maryland, Illinois, Michigan, Texas, Georgia, Colorado, New Mexico, and Canada.
From the beginning, the NEFCRC fostered strong interest and participation in both field and conformation venues. As the club has grown, it has supported obedience, agility, rally-o, and soon, tracking events. Above all however, the NEFCRC welcomes everyone who shares their lives with Flat-Coats and appreciates the Flat-Coat's happy, willing spirit, enchanting but challenging nature, and celebrates the close bond between us and our multitalented quirky companions.
